Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how DX Wave Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use Mission, our native macOS application for issue and project tracking, and our other software published under the DX Wave name.
Mission is designed for privacy by default: there is no separate Mission account, we do not operate advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not sell your data. Most information you enter stays on your Mac and, if you use it, in your personal iCloud account managed by Apple.
This policy should be read together with Apple’s privacy policies and your device settings. Where Apple processes data on our behalf (for example iCloud sync or App Store purchases), Apple acts under its own terms.
Who we are
Data controller: DX Wave Limited
Contact: info@dxwavetech.com
Product: Mission (bundle identifier com.dxwave.mission), distributed on the Mac App Store.
Summary
- No Mission login. You sign in to iCloud on your Mac if you want sync; we never receive your Apple ID password.
- No DX Wave servers for your task content, journal, or attachments under normal use.
- No third-party advertising or analytics in Mission as shipped by us.
- Core features are free; optional Mission Pro and Mission Uber upgrades are one-time in-app purchases through Apple.
- You control sync via macOS/iCloud settings; you can use Mission locally if CloudKit is unavailable.
Information Mission processes
“Personal information” means information that identifies you or could reasonably be linked to you. In Mission, this may include content you choose to store in the app, for example:
- Task and project data (titles, descriptions, statuses, priorities, due dates, estimates, sections, tags, issue keys)
- Workspace and project metadata (names, schedules, goals, RAG status, notes)
- People and assignee names you enter
- Journal entries and notes attached to work items
- Automation rule definitions and execution history recorded in the journal (Mission Pro)
- App preferences (sort order, list density, notification settings, appearance options)
- Files you attach to tasks (Mission Pro), stored on your Mac
We do not require your real name, email address, or phone number to use Mission. Any contact details you type into tasks or people fields are stored as part of your content under your control.
What we do not do
Unless this policy states otherwise, DX Wave does not:
- Collect your Mission content on our own servers
- Use your data for advertising or sell it to data brokers
- Embed third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or social SDKs in Mission
- Operate a cloud automation service that reads your tasks outside your devices
- Access your iCloud data directly — only your devices and Apple’s iCloud infrastructure do
Support requests you send us by email are handled separately; we use your email address only to respond to you.
iCloud and Apple services
If you are signed in to iCloud on your Mac, Mission can sync selected data through Apple CloudKit in container
iCloud.com.dxwave.mission. Depending on your settings and app version, synced data may include:
- Workspaces, projects, sections, issues, and related task fields
- People, categories, and tags
- Journal entries linked to your work
- Automation rule definitions and sync metadata used to avoid duplicate rule runs across devices
- Selected app preferences via iCloud key-value storage (for example default sort, list density, notification preferences)
Sync is optional in practice: if CloudKit is unavailable, Mission can run in a local-only mode on that Mac. Sync timing, conflicts, and availability depend on Apple’s services and your network.
Apple’s role: Apple processes iCloud and App Store data under the Apple Privacy Policy. You can review and manage iCloud in System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud on your Mac.
App Store purchases: Mission Pro and Mission Uber are sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Apple processes payment and provides us only the information needed to validate purchases (for example transaction identifiers), not your full card details.
Local-only data
Some information is stored only on the Mac where it was created and is not uploaded to iCloud, including:
- Certain portfolio analytics and history used by Mission Control (Uber), kept in a separate local database on each Mac
- Per-device notification snooze times
- Per-device navigation state (for example the last selected project in the sidebar)
This design avoids blocking your core task sync when optional analytics data is present. Metrics on one Mac are not automatically combined with another Mac unless you export or copy data yourself.
Notifications
Mission can schedule local notifications on your Mac (for example due soon, due today, or overdue reminders). Notification content is derived from your tasks on that device. Due dates may sync via iCloud, but each Mac schedules its own alerts.
You control permissions in System Settings → Notifications → Mission. You can configure quiet hours and reminder behaviour inside the app. Daily overdue reminders require Mission Pro.
We do not send marketing push notifications and do not operate a separate notification server for Mission.
Attachments and files
Mission Pro lets you attach files to tasks. Files are accessed through the macOS security-scoped file picker (user-selected files). Attachments are stored in the app’s sandbox on your Mac.
Unless and until we ship attachment blob sync, attachment files remain on each device even when task metadata syncs via iCloud. Deleting a task or using storage cleanup in Settings affects files on that Mac as described in the app.
Mission does not request access to your Photo Library for routine operation. We do not process photos or location metadata from images unless you separately choose to attach a file that contains such metadata.
Automation rules (Pro)
Mission Pro workflow rules run on your Mac when tasks change or when synced data arrives from iCloud. Rules are not executed on DX Wave servers. When a rule changes a task, Mission records what happened in the task journal so you can audit automations.
Rule definitions may sync via iCloud so your automations can exist on multiple Macs; execution is local on each device.
In-app purchases
Mission offers optional one-time upgrades (Mission Pro and Mission Uber). Purchases are processed by Apple. We use StoreKit to unlock features on your device. We do not store your payment card number.
Family Sharing and refund policies follow Apple’s App Store rules. Purchase history is available through your Apple ID account.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information. In practice:
- Access and correction: View and edit your data directly in Mission.
- Deletion: Delete individual tasks, projects, or workspaces in the app. To remove synced data from all devices, delete it in Mission and allow iCloud to propagate, or manage data in your iCloud account and on each Mac.
- Stop sync: Sign out of iCloud on a Mac or disable iCloud Drive/CloudKit for Mission’s data container via Apple’s settings.
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent (for example enabling notifications), change settings in Mission or macOS.
- Complaints: You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We encourage you to contact us first so we can help.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland: Our legal bases typically include performance of the app experience you request, legitimate interests in operating and improving secure software, and compliance with law. iCloud sync is initiated by your use of Apple’s service.
California: We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
To exercise rights that cannot be fulfilled in the app, email info@dxwavetech.com from the address you used to contact us (if any). We may need to verify your request as permitted by law.
Retention and deletion
Your Mission data persists on your devices and in your iCloud account until you delete it. We do not set a separate retention period on our servers because we do not host your task content.
Uninstalling Mission from a Mac removes local app data in the app container subject to macOS behaviour. iCloud copies may remain until you delete them through the app or your Apple account. Diagnostic information you copy from Settings (for example iCloud sync status) is under your control when you paste or send it to us.
Security
Mission runs in the macOS App Sandbox, uses Apple’s standard APIs for storage and sync, and relies on the security of your Mac and Apple ID. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; keep your Mac and Apple ID credentials safe.
If we become aware of a security issue affecting Mission, we will take appropriate steps, which may include an app update and notice on our website or App Store release notes.
International users
DX Wave Limited is based in the United Kingdom. If you use Mission from other countries, your information may be processed on your devices and, when you use iCloud, in data centres operated by Apple according to your iCloud account region and Apple’s documentation.
By using Mission you understand that Apple may process data in countries other than your own under Apple’s policies.
Children
Mission is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our own systems. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us by email, contact us and we will delete it.
Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s use of Apple devices and iCloud accounts.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with an updated effective date and version number. Material changes may also be noted in App Store release notes. Continued use of Mission after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
Previous version: v1.0 (generic DX Wave policy). Version 2.0 adds Mission-specific detail and removes inaccurate references to photo-library access that do not apply to Mission.
